What undercoat do players use. I tend to go the same way has I paint 6mm and use black. I have undercoated some Saxon Heartguards in silver has they are mostly wearing chainmail. I will post my findings once I've completed these.

Steve, I tend to use a black undercoat, followed by a drybrush of off-white or light grey. This picks up the details and lets my eyes see them better. It also provides a lighter undercoat than black for my brighter colors.
